Matt Maeson performs live at the Paper Tiger venue as part of his North American tour.
Matt Maeson plays Paper Tiger on Friday, November 13, at 8 PM. He's coming through San Antonio as part of a North American tour that spans more than four months and upwards of 40 cities.
His sound sits at the crossroads of indie folk and alternative pop, built on acoustic-guitar melodies layered with electronic textures and carried by a distinctive, gravelly vocal delivery. The arrangements stretch from sparse and intimate to expansive and anthemic, and on stage he's usually backed by a full band—typically a drummer, a bassist, and a multi-instrumentalist. His sets run around 75 to 90 minutes, plus opening acts.
Much of that sensibility comes from an itinerant upbringing: he spent years traveling across the United States with his parents, who performed in prisons and at motorcycle rallies. The album Bank Robber brought him wider attention, with tracks like "Cringe" becoming staples, and listeners frequently draw comparisons to Hozier, Noah Kahan, and Bon Iver.

It's a full band set, not a solo acoustic one, so expect the electronic textures and the full rhythm section rather than just a guitar and a voice. The show starts at 8 PM at Paper Tiger.
