A contemporary meditation on memory, technology, love, and identity, with conversations between humans and their digital echoes, presented by 100A Productions.
Marjorie Prime, written by Jordan Harrison, runs at the Carlos Alvarez Studio Theater from February 10 to February 21, 2027, with ten performances across those two weeks. It's a quiet, contemporary play set in a near future where artificial intelligence can preserve and revise memory. The story follows the conversations between humans and their digital echoes, and it's built around the love, loss, and identity that come when you can actually edit your own past.
It's presented as a contemplative centerpiece of the 2026-2027 season from 100A Productions, which they've built around the theme 'Listening, Memory, and the Stories We Tell.' That theme carries through the whole season: fully staged productions are paired with Industry Night readings, and each one is preceded by a pre-show lobby happy hour. Producing Artistic Director Rick Frederick describes the season as 'about listening: to memory, to belief, to one another, and to the stories that make us feel less alone,' and says he's aiming for 'a rhythm of return' that brings the community back into the room for live storytelling.
Marjorie Prime fits right into that. It's a play that asks what happens to who we are when we can choose which memories to keep and which to rewrite, and it does it through those intimate, one-on-one conversations rather than big spectacle. If you've been following the season, this is the one that pulls those threads together.
