Selena-themed speakeasy experience with a chef-curated three-course menu and paired cocktails at Hard Rock Cafe.
La Flor Escondida is back at Hard Rock Cafe San Antonio on Friday, November 6. It's a cherry-cola themed speakeasy that pays tribute to Selena Quintanilla's performance at the venue's grand opening in 1995. The room is hung with memorabilia from her career, and the night centers on a chef-curated three-course menu inspired by local Tejano culture, paired with cocktails.
If you've never been, it's worth knowing the history that ties the room to the city. The cafe opened on January 12, 1995, and Selena performed there for the grand opening. The speakeasy keeps that connection alive, and the rest of the venue does the same with its collection: Ozzy Osbourne's black velvet jacket and Eddie Van Halen's Charvel guitar are on display, and a fragment of the original stage Selena performed on is kept there too.
La Flor Escondida runs on the second and last Friday of each month, so this November 6 date is one of two opportunities to catch it. The three-course menu is the main draw, with each dish drawing from Tejano flavors and a paired cocktail to go with it. It's a dinner-focused experience rather than a quick drink, and the room itself is built around that tribute to Selena's 1995 appearance.
