La Bella Calavera: Halloween Paint & Sip

Art is Passion is hosting a Halloween paint-and-sip at Freetail Brewing on Tuesday, October 13, from 6 PM to 8 PM. The subject is La Bella Calavera, a vibrant calavera-inspired portrait built on bold colors, gorgeous florals, and playful details. It's a guided session, so you aren't just left to figure it out on your own: the instructor leads the group step-by-step, which makes it work for complete beginners and seasoned artists alike. You can relax with a drink while you work and take home whatever you finish.

It's a low-pressure way to spend a Tuesday evening, especially if you've never picked up a brush before. The whole point is to follow along and see the image come together over a couple of hours, so you don't need any prior painting experience to get through it. Between the guided steps and the brewery setting, it's more about the process than the final product.

The night also falls within San Antonio's Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15. Throughout the month, the city celebrates its Hispanic heritage with festivals, live music, art, historic sites, and authentic flavors—from Fiestas Patrias and Mexican Independence Day to local culinary experiences and historic landmarks. A calavera-themed painting fits right into that, and the timing puts it toward the end of the celebration.

Freetail Brewing is at 4035 N Loop 1604 W Unit 105, San Antonio, TX 78257. The session runs from 6 PM to 8 PM, and tickets are $35.
