A children's art studio session at the San Antonio Museum of Art where participants explore color, flowers, and memories.
The San Antonio Museum of Art is hosting a kids' studio session called Color, Flowers, & Recuerdos on Wednesday, October 14, starting at 10 AM. It's one of those hands-on mornings where the museum opens up a space for kids to make their own art rather than just looking at it, and the title gives you a good sense of what they'll be working with: color, flowers, and recuerdosโthe Spanish word for memories.
If you're not familiar with the museum, it's right on the Museum Reach of the River Walk, in the complex that used to be the Lone Star Brewery. It's a big house for a lot of different things. There's the most comprehensive collection of ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian art in the southern United States; the Nelson A. Rockefeller wing of Latin American art, which runs from the ancient Americas through to the present; and an Asian art wing with works from Korea, India, and Japan, including a significant collection of Chinese ceramics. The contemporary galleries pair internationally recognized artists with notable Texas and regional work, so there's a wide range of styles and eras under one roof.

For those who usually visit on a budget, the museum has a couple of free windows: general admission is free every Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM and every Sunday from 10 AM to noon. This session, though, is a Wednesday morning, so it's a separate thing from those regular free hours. The session itself is free, and it runs at 10 AM on October 14 at the museum's 200 West Jones Avenue address in San Antonio.
