An immersive evening of theatre, spoken word, live music and visual art honouring Service Members and Veterans, featuring short plays and a remembrance ceremony.
In Honor comes to the Radius Center on October 23 and 24, 2026, at 7 PM. It's an immersive evening of theatre, spoken word, live music and visual art built from the real stories of Service Members, Veterans and their loved ones. Rather than watching grief from a distance, the audience is invited into its aftermath: caregiving, memory, resilience and healing.
The program features four short plays, among them Attention Shoppers by Barbara Blumenthal-Ehrlich and Michael and the Saints by Jeffery Hensel and Dwayne Shaw, plus a story from a local Veteran or military-connected storyteller. Donna Provencher directs, with Natalie Buster as associate director and Dr. Qwynn Galloway-Salazar as artist-in-residence and co-producer. The evening also includes a Wall of Remembrance and a 'Ribbons of Remembrance' ceremony, where guests write and hang the name of a service member they wish to honor. Licensed grief professionals are present throughout.
Behind it is Grief Dialogues, the Seattle-based nonprofit founded in 2016 by playwright and producer Elizabeth Coplan, which uses theatre and film to bring conversations about death, grief and loss into the light. Coplan has said that staging death can help people better understand how to live, love, grieve and connect. Locally, the production is sponsored by Operation Solace, UTSA Arts and ABODE.
