Five-week hands-on chemistry program for kids ages 5-10, mixing, bubbling, and making slime in the lab.
The Science Guys of San Antonio are bringing their chemistry program to The Rock at La Cantera on Thursday, October 15, starting at 10 AM. It's a five-week hands-on course for kids ages 5 to 10, so it's more of a series than a one-off session.
The whole thing is built around getting kids into the lab and letting them actually do the work. They'll be mixing, bubbling, and making slime—the kind of chemistry that's more about what you can see and touch than reading a textbook. Over the five weeks, they'll work through different experiments, each one adding to the last, so it's a proper progression rather than five separate lessons. It's designed for the younger end of the elementary school crowd, and the hands-on part is the whole point.
If you're homeschooling, this is a good way to check off a science unit without having to set up a lab in your own kitchen. The Science Guys handle the materials and the instruction, and the kids get to be the ones doing the mixing and the making. It's a five-week commitment, so it's something to build into your schedule for the fall rather than a one-and-done event.
