Hands-on single-day cooking class where participants make artisan breads in small groups and eat what they made at CIA Texas.
The Culinary Institute of America is hosting Artisan Breads at Home on Saturday, January 30, 2027, at their Texas campus in the Pearl. It's a single-day class that runs from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and it's open to all skill levels, so you don't need to be a pro to join in.
The session is hands-on: you'll work in a small group with your classmates to prepare a menu, and once the work is done, everyone sits down together to eat what they've made. While you eat, you'll talk through the techniques you used, and you'll take home a full recipe packet so you can recreate it in your own kitchen. It's a full morning and early afternoon, and you leave with both a meal and the instructions to do it again.
The CIA's Texas campus is right in the heart of the historic Pearl, a spot that's become a real hub for food lovers in San Antonio. It's a working campus, home to students training for careers in culinary and baking and pastry arts, alongside entrepreneurs starting food businesses and homegrown chefs. Beyond the associate degrees and specialized programming for field leaders, the campus runs boot camps and cooking classes for home cooks, led by chef-instructors, food executives, restaurant owners, and master sommeliers. These single-day sessions are open to all skill levels, and you'll be working in small groups rather than just watching a demonstration.
