Free outdoor screening of the 1989 film Dead Poets Society at the Tobin Center's H-E-B Cinema on Will's Plaza, part of the Cinema on Saturdays series.
Dead Poets Society (1989) plays at the H-E-B Cinema on Will's Plaza on Saturday, November 14. It's part of the Tobin Center's Cinema on Saturdays, the free outdoor movie night they hold on the second Saturday of every month at the Will Naylor Smith River Walk Plaza in downtown San Antonio.
Directed by Peter Weir and starring Robin Williams, Ethan Hawke, and Robert Sean Leonard, the film follows an unorthodox English teacher who inspires his students to think for themselves and seize the day. It's remembered as a moving, timeless story about art, individuality, and the power of words. This particular screening falls under As the Weather Turns: A Collection of Comfort Films, the theme the Tobin is working through for this stretch of the series.
The movie plays on a 32-foot LED video wall, and there are full concessions and a bar available on-site. The series runs rain or shine, so if the weather turns, the screening moves indoors. A couple of house rules to keep in mind: no outside food or drinks are allowed on the plaza, and no pets are permitted.
