Chamber music concert by Chamber Connexions, led by Brendan Speltz, exploring the theme 'The Teacher as Artist'.
Chamber Connexions brings The Teacher as Artist to the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, April 9, 2027, at 7:30 PM. The concert is part of their ongoing series in San Antonio, which pairs traditional chamber masterpieces with newer works and puts local and international artists on the same bill as educational initiatives.
At the helm is Artistic Programming Director Brendan Speltz, a San Antonio-based violinist and former member of the Escher String Quartet. He's performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Aspen Music Festival, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Savannah Music Festival, and Wigmore Hall, and he plays a 1925 Carl Becker violin.
The series describes its approach through the German word Gemütlichkeit—warmth, intimacy, and the feeling of being drawn into a shared space—and invites audiences to experience chamber music in an intimate setting. The concerts are presented in partnership with The Orchestra San Antonio, the resident orchestra at the Tobin Center, which also collaborates with local organizations like OPERA San Antonio, Ballet San Antonio, and 100A Productions.
