Concert by the punk band Ceremony at the Paper Tiger venue in San Antonio.
Ceremony play Paper Tiger on Thursday, November 5, with doors at 7 PM and the show starting at 8 PM. The San Antonio date is presented by Resound and is open to all ages.
Ceremony are a punk band from Rohnert Park, California, just outside San Francisco. Vocalist Ross Farrar leads the quintet, which rounds out with Anthony Anzaldo, Justin Davis, Andy Nelson, and Jake Casarotti. Their sound has proven remarkably adaptable over the years, stretching from bristling hardcore to moody post-punk, noise rock, and shoegaze. The three albums they released on Deathwish and Bridge 9 are widely regarded as some of the most compelling, unusual, and progressive hardcore of the last five years.
Their Matador debut, Zoo, was produced by John Goodmanson—who has worked with Blood Brothers, Sleater-Kinney, and Weezer—and refined the band's jagged approach while continuing to pursue themes of exurban alienation and confinement. Their seventh album, Tell Me Your Dream, reunites them with producer John Reis across ten songs. Between those two, they've moved through a fair bit of ground, and this show should pull from that range.
