The San Antonio Spurs are bringing the season's start to the neighborhood with the Back to Basketball Tipoff on Sunday, October 18, at The Rock at La Cantera. It's a community pep rally, part of the Frost Plaza family-friendly event series at The Rock, which is built around the city's basketball fever. The venue itself leans into that: it's got a splash pad, a half-court, and a 40-foot LED screen for catching the game.
The day is all about the fan experience. The Spurs Hype Squad, the Silver Dancers, and Coyote make appearances, while DJ Quake and the Spurs In-Arena Hosts provide the music. There's a merch customization station, a chance to pose with the Spurs Championship Trophies, and basketball-themed games and trivia to work your way through. It's the kind of afternoon where you can hang out with the team's supporting cast and get your hands on some gear before the season really kicks in.
Since it's an outdoor event, you'll want to bring lawn chairs and blankets. For food, you can grab something from Ice Ice Dady, Lil Bros BBQ Shack, or a selection of food trucks, or sit down and eat at Roca & Martillo. The Rock is home to chef-driven concepts by local restaurateur Jason Dady, and later in the year it hosts Holidays at The Rock, a six-week celebration with outdoor skating, festive activities, and movie nights.
