Halloween haunted house with jump scares and special effects, with a zombie shooting range and over-21s secret bars.
13th Floor is back at 1203 E. Commerce St for the Halloween season, running on select nights from September 12 to November 8. It's one of those San Antonio staples that comes back every year, and if you've been before, you know the drill: you walk through a series of themed rooms designed to keep you on edge. People who've gone through it usually point to the jump scares, the spooky atmosphere, and the special effects as the things that stick with them.
Beyond the main walk-through, there are a few ways to stretch the night. The Last Spinehelm is their zombie shooting range, a gellyball experience where you take shots at zombies rather than just running from them. If you're the type who wants to see everything twice, the Respawn Pass lets you go through the main attraction a second time. And for the over-21 crowd, the Secret Bar Combo Pack pairs a complimentary drink at each of the venue's two secret bars, both of which check IDs on site.
Behind the scenes, the attraction is run by Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group, which describes itself as the world's largest Halloween-themed entertainment company, with more than 15 locations and counting. That scale explains why it feels like a full production rather than a small-scale haunt.
