A nostalgic hip hop and R&B night hosted by DJ Deluxe and Knu Element Entertainment at the Killjoy venue in downtown Raleigh.
DJ Deluxe and Knu Element Entertainment are taking over Killjoy on Saturday, October 10, for the start of a new Saturday night residency that runs through December 26. The nights are built around nostalgic hip hop and R&B, with Deluxe and Knu Element running the floor in the heart of downtown Raleigh. It's a long stretch—every Saturday for nearly three months—so if you miss the first one, there are plenty more to catch.
The music stays in that nostalgic hip hop and R&B pocket, the kind of sound that leans on the records you grew up with rather than whatever is topping the charts right now. It's a dance floor night, not a concert, so the focus is on the DJ set and the room rather than a stage. With Deluxe and Knu Element handling the music, the set is designed to keep the floor moving from the first drop through the early morning hours.
There are a few things to keep in mind before you head out. The room leans toward an elevated casual dress code, so you'll want to step up a bit from your usual weekend wear. It also draws a 30+ crowd, which gives you a good sense of the energy in the room. If you're planning to bring a group and want a home base for the night, couch reservations are handled through @Knuelement.
