An exhibit using decorated, life-size mannequins to memorialize victims of domestic violence in North Carolina, presented by the Women's Center at NC State University.
The Silent Witness Project opens at Talley Student Union on Monday, October 12, and runs through Thursday, October 22. It's presented by the Women's Center at NC State University as part of the university's Domestic Violence Awareness Month observances, which run throughout October and include art exhibits, community gatherings, educational workshops, and discussions.
The exhibit itself is built around life-size mannequins, each one decorated to memorialize a person who was a victim of domestic violence in North Carolina. Every mannequin carries a plaque with the story of a person murdered as a result of domestic violence. The Women's Center stages it to increase awareness and education about the effects of domestic violence in the community.
If you're on campus or in the area, you'll find it in the second-floor lobby of Talley Student Union, so it's easy to stop by between classes or on your way across the building. It stays up for ten days, from October 12 through October 22, so you've got a good window to see it when it works for you.
