Weekly jazz series featuring Grammy-nominated and local musicians on Wednesday nights at Boatman Spirits Co.
Peter Lamb is bringing a new weekly jazz series to Boatman Spirits Co., and it kicks off Wednesday, October 14. The whole thing is a partnership between Boatman and Lamb, who's one of Raleigh's own, and the plan is to keep it going every Wednesday night at 8 PM. The format pairs Grammy-nominated artists with local musicians known for drawing a crowd, so you get a mix of national recognition and the kind of players who've spent years working the city's rooms.
The first few weeks are already lined up. On October 14, the Sidecar Social Club takes the stage. The following Wednesday, October 21, it's the Denty Westlake Trio, and on October 28, the Keith Ganz Trio steps in. That's three different groups in three weeks, so if you can't make one, there's another right behind it.
To give you a sense of who's been through the rotation, the series has featured the Peter Lamb Trio, saxophonist Rob Denty, two-time Grammy nominee and guitarist Keith Ganz, and saxophonists Roland Burnot and Liam Trawick. It's a wide enough spread that you'll hear a few different takes on the same night, and since it's a weekly thing, it's easy to drop in whenever you're around.
