Open Mic at Goodnights

Goodnights Comedy Club hosts its Open Mic on Wednesday, October 21, at 8 PM. It's one of those nights where the lineup is a bit of a moving target, and that's the whole point: the club bills it as a chance to see more than 15 of the best local comedians Raleigh has to offer and to spot the next big thing. The stage is open to new talent and seasoned comics alike, with each performer getting three minutes of material.

If you're thinking about getting up there yourself, there's a specific window to watch. Sign-ups open the morning after the previous mic and close the Sunday evening before. The line-up is posted by Tuesday night, and for anyone who didn't make the list, slots are drawn out of a bucket. It's a wide-open call—the club notes that everyone starts somewhere, and they welcome both the first-timers and the comics who've been doing this for years.

As for where you'll be sitting, it depends on the night. The show usually runs in the Main Showroom, but if there's another show happening there, it moves to Room 861. Entry is first-come, first-served, so if you're hoping for a good spot, you'll want to get there early. The room is 18+, and the Showroom carries a two-item-per-person minimum of food or drink. The club describes it as a place for dinner, drinks, and comedy, so you can make a whole evening of it. The Open Mic starts at 8 PM on Wednesday, October 21.
