A historical walking tour through downtown Raleigh's most haunted sites, including the Governor's Mansion and State Capitol, focusing on the past events that allegedly caused the hauntings.
Raleigh Walking Tours is running its Haunted History Tour through downtown Raleigh on Saturday, October 10, from 4:45 PM to 6 PM. It's a walking tour that takes you past some of the city's most haunted historic sites, including the Governor's Mansion and the State Capitol Building.
If you're expecting a typical ghost tour, this isn't quite that. There aren't any special effects here, and it's not a hunt for spirits. Instead, it's a historical walking tour that works its way through some of Raleigh's most haunted places, stopping at each one to unpick the past event that allegedly left it haunted. It's more about the stories and the history than the jump scares.
This is one of several public tours Raleigh Walking Tours offers. There's the Sip n' Stroll Ghost tour, the seasonal Fall Oakwood tour through the historic Oakwood neighborhood, the True Crime & Curious Tales tour, and the Original Raleigh Murals tour. Public tours are pay-what-you-want, with advance registration through Eventbrite, and they usually run for about an hour to an hour and three quarters. Private, fixed-price tours are also available if you're booking for a group.
