Grand opening of the new Evan Reid Gallery, a vintage furniture and custom upholstery destination in Downtown Raleigh, with Yasu Home's design studio.
Evan Reid Gallery is having its grand opening on Friday, October 23, from 6 to 9 PM at 530 Hillsborough St in downtown Raleigh. It's a street-front flagship, 4,200 square feet with a main gallery, a secondary showroom, a kitchen, and an office. The space is built for vintage furniture, custom upholstery, original artwork, lighting, and curated objects for the home, with museum-quality restored vintage pieces dating back to the 1950s.
At the center of the gallery is Kim Salmela Atelier, a California-based custom upholstery collection. You can customize everything from the fabric and wood finish to the dimensions and details, and this is the brand's first East Coast in-store appearance. The gallery itself grew out of a conversation between vintage furniture hunter Evan Bush and interior designer Kate Anlyan. Anlyan's family design dynasty, National Art Interiors, once operated in the same corner storefront on Glenwood Avenue and Hillsborough Street, so there's a bit of history returning to the spot. Anlyan also runs Yasu Home, a firm that has curated spaces across the country and around the Triangle, and Yasu Home's design studio will be located inside the gallery.
