Stand-up comedy special of David Nihill's Taking Tangents Tour at Goodnights Comedy Club.
David Nihill brings his Taking Tangents Tour to Goodnights Comedy Club on Thursday, October 15, at 7:30 PM. It's a single-headliner night, so the whole set is his.
If you haven't caught him before, Nihill's comedy comes from a very specific place. He was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, and left at 22 to live and work in twelve countries and visit more than seventy others. His shows draw on those travels, his cultural observations, his attempts at learning languages, and his experience as a mildly confused immigrant. It's the kind of material that works because it's rooted in things he's actually lived through, rather than just setups and punchlines.
He's built a fair bit of momentum around that. He won the annual San Francisco Comedy Competition, which has named Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dana Carvey as previous finalists, and he was the runner-up in the Moth's largest US Grandslam storytelling competition. He's also a bestselling writer and has recorded two specials: Documented for Dry Bar Comedy in 2019 and Cultural Appreciation in 2023. Along the way, he's appeared on TED.com, Sirius XM, Just For Laughs, the Netflix Is a Joke Festival, The Irish Independent, RTE's Late Late Show, Inc, NPR, and The Huffington Post. His videos have amassed over 800 million views, and he's got a social following of more than 2 million people.
