Workshop to help students prepare for research poster presentations and oral presentations, offered by the Office of Undergraduate Research at NC State University.
The Office of Undergraduate Research is hosting a Creating a Research Poster and Oral Presentation Workshop on Tuesday, October 13, at the D.H. Hill Jr. Library. It runs from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM in the East Learning Lab, so you'll have a good ninety minutes to work through both parts of the session.
The workshop covers two distinct skills that usually go hand-in-hand when you're presenting your work: the poster and the talk. The first half focuses on the research poster—how to lay out your data, organize the flow, and make the visual side do some of the heavy lifting. The second half shifts to the oral presentation, the part where you actually stand up and walk people through what you've found. If you're preparing for a symposium, a conference, or a class presentation, it's a chance to get both sorted in one afternoon.
Behind the workshop is the Office of Undergraduate Research at NC State, which works to support the undergraduate research community by providing tools, resources, and guidance to students, faculty, and staff. This session is one of those resources—a practical, hands-on way to get a handle on the presentation side of things before you're standing in front of a crowd.
