Guided walking food tour of downtown Raleigh that samples southern and global cuisine while exploring the city's history and architecture.
A Taste of Downtown Raleigh Food Tours are running through the center of town this fall, with the next one starting Saturday, Oct 17, at 2:30 PM. It's a guided walking tour that takes you on a loop through downtown, stopping to sample innovative Southern and global cuisine with a focus on local products. Between the bites, you'll pick up the city's history, architecture, food, and culture along the way. The tours are run by Taste Carolina, who pitch them as the best way to experience the city for residents and visitors alike.
The Saturday tours start at Transfer Co. Food Hall, so that's where you'll meet up before heading out. The tours are based out of the City of Raleigh Museum, located at 220 Fayetteville St in the historic Briggs Hardware Building. The museum itself is a local history spot with several exhibits and programs free to the public, so if you're in the neighborhood, it's easy to spend some extra time there before or after your tour.
This isn't a one-off thing, either. The tours run on a regular schedule: Friday lunchtimes at 12:45 PM and Saturday afternoons at 2:30 PM, and they keep going through November 27. If those times don't work for you, the organizers say you can request a custom date or book a private corporate tour. So if you've got a group and want to do your own thing, that's an option too.
