Series of storytelling sessions by Pamodzi Creatives to celebrate local heroes and young creators.
Pamodzi Creatives are bringing Who Inspires You? to the Central Library on Tuesday 11 August. It's a series of storytelling sessions, and the whole thing is built around the local heroes and young creators of Portsmouth.
If you haven't come across the project before, Who Inspires You? is a creative programme run by Pamodzi Creatives CIC. It connects young people with inspirational local role models through storytelling, mentoring, and school engagement. At its heart is a series of children's storybooks created alongside local young people, each one celebrating the life and achievements of an inspirational figure from the community. The aim they talk about is raising aspirations, building confidence, and broadening horizons.
These storytelling sessions are part of that wider work. Alongside the books, the programme works directly with schools through assemblies, workshops, classroom visits, and events like this one. It's the same team behind the scenes: Pamodzi Creatives CIC has been the schools dance lead for the Portsmouth and Southampton Schools Sports Partnership for over ten years, delivering curriculum-led dance workshops through the Laban movement analysis framework. So, while this particular session is about storytelling, it sits within a much broader commitment to youth work across the city.
