Portsmouth rock band Thirst celebrate 25 years of their debut album 'From Mouth To Skin', supported by Freestone and Sonne, with DJ Lemon on the tunes.
Thirst return to The Wedgewood Rooms on Saturday 26 September, marking the 25th anniversary of their debut album From Mouth to Skin. It's the original line-up back together — Chris Perrin, Rich Tamblyn, Mark Denney and Steve Marsh — with Freestone and Sonne supporting, and DJ Lemon (Chaos / It's A Sin) on the tunes. Doors open at 19:00.
Thirst came out of the Portsmouth scene in the late nineties, playing the Horseshoe pub and The Wedgewood Rooms and carving out a niche with melodic, grunge-infused rock that sat comfortably with post-Nirvana fans. They signed to the US indie label ZIP Records, and From Mouth to Skin came out in 2000. It spawned four UK singles, hit album of the month in Rock Sound, and picked up a four-star review from Kerrang!, which gave airplay to 'Something Beautiful', 'Collapse' and 'State Of High Piss Off!'. Steve Lamacq championed them on BBC Radio 1, and the record took them touring the US. Frontman Chris Perrin describes the show as a chance to give back to the scene that raised them.
There's more to the night than the anniversary. The band have finished their elusive second album, Patchwork Happiness, which comes out digitally on 28 September — two days after the gig. A double vinyl edition will be available at the show, with a second disc of rare demos, B-sides and live performances. Bassist Steve Marsh has been with EMF since 2012, so this brings the original four back on one stage for the first time in years.
