A tribute concert featuring the music of Phil Collins and Genesis performed by the band Seriously Collins in a candlelight setting.
Seriously Collins are playing Portsmouth Cathedral on Wednesday 8 July, a tribute night dedicated to the music of Phil Collins and Genesis. The show starts at 7:30pm, and the whole thing is set in the cathedral lit by the soft, flickering glow of hundreds of candles.
On stage you'll find lead vocalist Chris Hayward and his live band. They describe their set as an authentic journey through the music that defined an era, with the focus on the raw emotion and songwriting of the original artists. The setlist pulls from both the solo and band years, with songs like 'Invisible Touch', 'Land of Confusion', 'In the Air Tonight', and 'Against All Odds' among the ones they'll be playing. It's a tribute, so it's not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Phil Collins or the Genesis estate.
Seriously Collins work in a few different formats, from a six-piece lineup up to a full eleven-piece ensemble that includes the 'Serious Horns' section. They describe their aim as recreating the energy, charm, and charisma of the original Phil Collins and Genesis concerts without the gimmicks. The candlelight setting adds its own particular mood to the night, and the set covers the range of the material they're known for.
