The Dr Hook Songbook

The Dr Hook Songbook comes to the Kings Theatre on Saturday 25 July, starting at 7:30pm. It's a musical built around the catalogue of the American country rock band Dr. Hook, whose songs are described as timeless classics.

If you're not familiar with the name, you'll likely know the songs. The show brings back Sylvia's Mother, When You're in Love With A Beautiful Woman, Sharing the Night Together, Only Sixteen and Sexy Eyes — the kind of tunes that probably spent a good deal of time on the radio back in the day. The whole thing is recreated for the stage by Billy Shannon, a young singer and songwriter, who performs them with his live band. It's a full evening's worth of music, with a running time of around two hours and twenty-five minutes.

Tickets start from £29.50, and there are a few concessions to keep in mind if you're booking for more than just yourself. OAPs and under-16s get £2 off, and if you're bringing a group of ten or more, it's £5 off per person. Members get £3 off too. So if you've got a decent-sized crowd going, it's worth checking those before you pay.
