Tribute band T.Rextasy celebrates the 50th anniversary of I Love to Boogie, paying homage to Marc Bolan and T.Rex.
T.Rextasy play The Kings Theatre on Saturday 19 September, part of their Marc Bolan 50th Anniversary Commemorative Tour. It's a tribute to Bolan and T.Rex, the glam rock act that defined a particular kind of British pop in the early seventies.
This tour marks the 50th anniversary of I Love to Boogie, released in 1976. The set leans on the glam rock anthems that most people know by heart: 'Get it On', 'Telegram Sam', and '20th Century Boy'. It also commemorates Bolan's death in 1977, so the whole thing sits as a retrospective of his career rather than a single album run-through.
T.Rextasy is the only official live tribute band dedicated to Bolan and T.Rex, endorsed and approved by Bolan's family, his estate, original T.Rex members, and his catalogue management. Fronting the band is Danielz, described as an uncanny replica of Bolan. The act has been performing around the world for more than 20 years and was named 'The Best Live Tribute Band in the UK' by BBC1. They've played Wembley Arena and the Ariake Coliseum in Japan, and shared stages with Wizzard, Cockney Rebel, Ian Hunter, and Slade.
