A Bollywood musical comedy blending storytelling, music, dance and humour, celebrating British South Asian culture.
Surinderella arrives at the Theatre Royal on Tuesday 18 August, running through to Friday 21 August. It's Rifco Theatre Company's latest production, directed by Ameet Chana with music and lyrics by PBN, and it's part of their nationwide UK tour that's on the road from July to October 2026.
It's a contemporary take on the Cinderella fairytale, set in the world of the Bolly-Woods. The story follows Surinder, a young woman living with her selfie-obsessed, Insta-vlogging stepsisters, Lovely and Bubbly, whose only real ally is Basanti, a talking cow. Along the way she crosses paths with Prince Kavi and the ever-optimistic Babloo, while the fabulous Devi Godmother and a mysterious slipper drive a whirlwind of magic, mayhem and romance. It's billed as the UK's largest-scale British South Asian pantomime, blending Bhangra beats, colour and magic with the spectacle, family-friendly comedy and audience interaction of traditional panto.
The cast brings together Sonya Venugopal as Surinder, Andy Kumar as Lovely, Raheem Payne as Bubbly, Rory Dulku as Prince Kavi, Dhruv Ravi as Babloo, and Harpz Kaur as the Devi Godmother. Rifco's Artistic Director Pravesh Kumar MBE says the show adds 'our own masala' to the ingredients of pantomime to reach new audiences and reflect modern Britain.
