Salt & Sabbat

Salt & Sabbat is coming to Treadgolds Warehouse on Saturday 12 September, from 10am to 3pm. It's an alternative craft market focused on folklore-inspired 'dark crafts', and it's run by Laura Gilbert-Anderson, who set it up after finding no local equivalent to the similar markets that run in the north of England. The name itself does a bit of heavy lifting: she says it brings together 'the salt of the sea of the south coast' and 'a secret midnight meeting of witches'.

The stalls are filled with work from small businesses, and the 'dark crafts' label isn't just for show. You'll find memorial art made with ethically sourced bones, stained glass, and folklore-inspired illustration. It's the kind of thing you'd usually have to hunt for in niche shops or online, rather than find all in one room. The day is rounded off with a tarot reader and a 'tooth gemmer' on hand, so there's a bit more to do than just browse.
