A welcoming, free community fitness event offering 2K and 5K run or walk routes for all ages and abilities, held every Sunday morning at Hilsea Lido.
Run-Walk Local is a free community fitness event that runs every Sunday morning at Hilsea Lido in Portsmouth. It's the successor to Great Run Local, and it's open to all ages and abilities, so it doesn't matter if you're a regular runner or someone just getting back into things.
The whole thing is built around support rather than speed. That makes it a good shout for families or anyone who'd rather focus on moving than on a stopwatch. There are two courses to choose from โ a 2K and a 5K โ and you can run or walk either of them, so you can pick the distance and the pace that works for you. Both start and finish at the Hilsea Lido car park, which keeps things simple.
It's a fully volunteer-led operation, with every marshal giving up their time to keep it going. That community feel is a big part of it, too โ it's as much about the people you meet as the distance you cover, and it's a welcoming environment for building confidence and making new friends. The initiative is supported by local sponsors, including Hilsea Lines Cafe, Alexander Sports, Out There Pics, and Semmens of Southsea.
Every week we pick ๐ the 5 best ๐ things to do in Portsmouth and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
