Rowans Hospice's Shining Stars Walk

Rowans Hospice is back with its Shining Stars Walk on Saturday 26 September, starting at HMS Temeraire in the Portsmouth Dockyard. It's their annual evening of remembrance, community and fundraising, and it's open to everyone: people with a personal connection to the hospice, those walking in memory of someone special, and anyone who just wants to support the cause. You can choose between a 4-mile or an 8-mile route around Portsmouth and Southsea, so you can pick the distance that suits you.

The walk takes you past some of the city's illuminated landmarks by night, including the Spinnaker Tower and HMS Warrior. At the Warrior, you can place a candle on the deck and listen to live music, and the volunteer-run glitter station is back this year. There's a new addition too: you can dedicate a personalised star to be projected onto the Square Tower and Southsea Castle. Everyone who finishes gets an official Shining Stars Walk t-shirt and a commemorative medal.

Rowans Hospice is aiming to raise £70,000, with the money helping local families continue to receive free, specialist care for life-limiting illnesses across South East Hampshire. Head of fundraising and marketing Yvonne Penny-Filewod says the night brings people together to remember loved ones and to support the hospice's care, comfort and compassion.

The walk starts at 7pm, with gates opening at 5pm at HMS Temeraire, Portsmouth Dockyard. You'll have your choice of the 4-mile or 8-mile route around Portsmouth and Southsea.
