Championship opener as Portsmouth welcome QPR to Fratton Park.
Portsmouth open their 2026-27 Championship campaign at Fratton Park this Saturday, when they welcome QPR for a 3pm kick-off. It's the first meeting between the two since QPR handed Pompey a 6-1 lesson at Loftus Road back in March, so there's a bit of a score to settle on home soil.
John Mousinho's side finished last season in 18th place, eight points clear of the relegation zone, and they've spent the summer putting in the work. They've brought in seven new players since the curtain came down on the previous campaign, so there are plenty of fresh faces to see in the first outing of the new season. On the opposite bench, Julien Stéphan takes charge of QPR.
There are a couple of things to keep an eye on in the team news. Thomas Waddingham remains out after being forced off against West Ham, so he'll be missing this one. On a brighter note, skipper Marlon Pack is ahead of schedule in his recovery from knee surgery, which is a bit of good news for the squad as they get started.
