A free, family-friendly celebration of diversity with stalls, workshops, live performances and food in Victoria Park, presented by Urbond and the Portsmouth Gambian Society.
The Portsmouth Cultural Festival takes over Victoria Park on Saturday 1 August, from 11am to 5pm. It's presented by Urbond and the Portsmouth Gambian Society, and they've put it on as a celebration of the city's diversity and community spirit. The two organisers describe it as a day for promoting community cohesion and sharing the vibrancy of different heritages with the wider Portsmouth community.
It's part of Portsmouth100, the city's centenary year of becoming a city in 2026. The local council is framing the whole year around that anniversary, with more events planned than could fit into its guide of 100 things to see and do. This festival is one of those, and it's a big one: around 100 organisations from across the city are getting involved.
There's a lot to do across the park. You'll find stalls from local cultural organisations, charities and businesses, and the glasshouse will hold hands-on arts, crafts and exhibits. A main stage will host live performances, and there are community-led interactions scattered around the park, with food provided by local businesses. It's a family-friendly day, and it's free to attend.
