A long-running community car boot sale where traders can sell pre-used goods to the public, with all profits donated to local charities.
The Portsmouth and Southsea Car Boot Sale is back at Duisburg Way on Sunday 5 July, and it's not just a one-off — it runs every Sunday through the month on the 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th, with dates continuing through September. It's a long-running community fixture here, and it sits right alongside the council's summer timetable, so it's a good way to spend a Sunday morning if you're around the seafront.
For those who haven't been, it's a turn-up-and-pay affair for traders. You bring your pre-used goods and sell them directly to buyers on the day, rather than dealing with listings and postage. There are a couple of rules to keep in mind: counterfeit items are strictly prohibited, and you can't sell food or drinks unless you're an approved trader. It's a straightforward setup, and the Duisburg Way site is the main venue, though it occasionally moves to Castlefield for certain dates.

After operational costs are covered, all profit from pitch and concession fees is donated to local charities, so selling your old stuff does a bit of good for the community as well. If you're selling, pitch fees depend on what you're arriving in: £5 if you're walking on, £10 for a car, SUV, 4x4 or small van, and £15 for a transit van, campervan or any vehicle with a trailer.
