Portsmouth 100 Showcase

The Portsmouth 100 Showcase is coming to the Portsmouth Guildhall on Thursday 9 July, a massed choir event marking the city's centenary. The whole thing is built around Portsmouth's heritage, with songs inspired by the city's history performed by a large choir rather than a single soloist or a small group. The choir is made up of Year 6 students from Solent Junior School. For them, it's more than just another performance; it's a significant one, marking the end of their primary school journey. They've spent their final year working towards this, and the showcase serves as a proper send-off before they move on to secondary school. The songs they'll be singing draw on the city's rich heritage, so the set is tied directly to the place they're performing in.

It's a family-focused evening, and the organisers have made it accessible: it's funded for families, with an initial limit of four places per child. The performance takes place in the Guildhall's main auditorium, and the doors open at 18:30, so you'll have plenty of time to get settled before the singing starts.
