Stand-up comedy show UH OH by Phil Wang, known from Taskmaster and Would I Lie to You.
Phil Wang brings his new show UH OH to Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday 9 October, with the performance starting at 7:30pm. Doors open about half an hour before that, so you've got plenty of time to get in and find your seat.
If you've come across Wang through the telly, you'll recognise him from Taskmaster and Would I Lie to You? — the two shows that have made him a bit of a household name. But there's a fair bit more to his background than that. He's a British-Malaysian comedian and writer who grew up in Malaysia and moved back to the UK at 16 to study engineering at King's College, Cambridge. He's been on the stand-up circuit for over a decade, winning the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year Award in 2010 and Comedy Central's Funniest Student Award in 2011, and he was later nominated for the Foster's Edinburgh Best Newcomer Award with his sketch group Daphne.
He's a regular on the panel show circuit, too. You'll have seen him on Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Dave's Unspun and Drunk History, and he co-hosts the BudPod podcast with Pierre Novellie. He's also got a one-minute part in Wonka. UH OH is a new show, and he returns to the stage a bit older than before and sporting a moustache, joking that he's the only cool millennial left. The Guardian called him one of the stand-up greats of his generation.
