My First Concert comes to Kings Theatre on Saturday 22 August, a live musical adventure built for the youngest members of the family. It's aimed at children aged 2 to 7, and the show runs for about an hour and a half, so it's a proper afternoon out rather than a quick stop.
The whole thing is part story and part kids' gig, and it's built around favourite nursery rhymes. The story follows Jack and Jill as they set out to create the biggest, brightest and most magical concert of all, and they've got a very silly dog called Dilly helping them along. Along the way, there are guest appearances from Pinkfong, Baby Shark and The Zoomies, so the songs your little ones probably already know from home will be coming from the stage.
What sets it apart from a standard children's show is how much the audience is expected to do. It's an interactive one: the kids are invited to become part of the performance, clapping, singing, dancing and cheering along as the story unfolds. If your lot can't sit still for long, that's actually part of the point here — they're meant to be joining in rather than just watching.
