Maximum Who

Maximum Who are playing Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday 11 September, with doors opening at 6.00pm. They're a tribute to The Who, and they describe themselves as the UK's quintessential one, pulling from the band's thunderous energy, iconic sound and raw spirit from 1965 to 1978. The set covers both the legendary anthems and the deep-cut rarities, so it's as much for the casual listener as for those who know the B-sides.

They aren't the only act on the bill. LouLu V opens the night, followed by The Prostate Gland Band, who play classic 60s and 80s covers. The Fine Voice Chorus also performs; they're a Portsmouth choir that rehearses to play shows and fundraisers across the area. All three acts lead up to Maximum Who taking the stage.

The night is a fundraiser: all proceeds go to Prostate Cancer UK, and the evening is promoted as raising awareness of prostate cancer prevention. The Prostate Gland Band plays their set with that same goal in mind, raising cash and awareness for the cause.

Tickets are £19.35, which includes a 13% booking fee. Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult, discounted parking is available, and cameras and tablets aren't allowed inside. Doors open at 6.00pm.
