Stand-up comedy show Yo-Yo by award-winning comedy star Laura Lexx.
Laura Lexx brings her show Yo-Yo to The Lens Studio on Friday 9 October, one of her few Portsmouth dates this autumn. If you've come across her name before, it's likely from the clips: she's built a huge following on the back of her heckler takedowns, those off-the-cuff exchanges that go viral and show her thinking on her feet. That's a good shorthand for how she works on stage — sharp, quick, and always ready to pivot when the room throws something at her.
Yo-Yo is the latest in a string of well-received hours. Her previous show, Slinky, took Best Show at the Women in Comedy Festival and earned her a 2025 Edinburgh ISH Award nomination for Best Show. Before that, her Fringe runs Trying and Knee Jerk were both shortlisted among the 'Top 30 Best-Reviewed Comedy Shows' at the festival. It's a strong run of form that puts her in the top tier of the current circuit.
She doesn't just do stand-up, either. Lexx has written two novels, Pivot (2020) and Klopp Actually (2022), and has appeared on Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week and Roast Battle. That mix of writing and live performance comes through in her comedy — the set is tight, but there's plenty of room for the audience to get involved. If you're the sort of person who likes a bit of banter with your comedy, this is exactly the kind of night you're after.
