A fun, music-filled disco for children to enjoy on their wheeled toys at the Pitt St. Skatepark.
Pitt St. Skatepark is hosting a Kids Wheeled Disco on Wednesday 12 August, from 4pm to 6.45pm. It's for under-16s, and the brief is simple: bring whatever you roll on. That means skates, blades, scooters, or anything with wheels, as long as it's not motorised. If you've come without your own, they've got hire skates and safety gear on hand, so you can still get involved even if you're just starting out.
For those who haven't been, Pitt St. Skatepark is an indoor and outdoor park in Portsmouth, housed in a repurposed Sainsbury's and billed as the city's skate haven. It's built for skateboarding, inline skates and roller skates, so it's a natural fit for a wheeled disco. The on-site café serves burgers, pizza, chicken and chips, and the bar is fully stocked, so there's plenty to keep you going if you're staying for the whole session.
Beyond the open sessions, the park stays busy throughout the year. During the summer holidays they run a bootcamp, and they offer coaching for those looking to pick up a few new tricks. There are also memberships starting from £30 a month, venue hire for your own group, and an online store stocking Pitt St. clothing and decks from brands like Wooden Wife and Yardboiz. The café, Pitt St Kitchen, serves food and drink daily, so it's a spot you can visit even when there isn't a specific event on.
