Jan Lieberman Evening Organ Concert

Jan Liebermann plays the organ at Portsmouth Cathedral on Friday 31 July, the final night of the cathedral's summer series of four Friday evening organ concerts. It's an evening recital, part of a run that's been bringing organ music to the cathedral throughout the summer, and this one closes the set.

Liebermann is a young organist with a background that spans a few different cities and conservatories. He had his first piano lessons at seven and studied at Dr. Hoch's Conservatory in Frankfurt. He took up the organ in 2018 under Bernhard Zosel in Kronberg, and by December 2019 he'd joined the Young Academy of the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, where he studied organ with Carsten Wiebusch and piano with Lev Natochenny. Since the winter semester of 2022/2023, he's been studying organ literature with Gerhard Gnanon at the University of Music in Mainz, and since autumn 2025 he's been studying church music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, with organ under Martin Sander.

He's already playing internationally, and this performance is the fourth and final stop of the cathedral's summer series of Friday night organ concerts. If you've been following the series, this is the one that wraps it up. The concert is on Friday 31 July at Portsmouth Cathedral.
