A relaxed morning for home-educated children to skate, scooter and hang out together, while parents connect over coffee or work with Wi-Fi.
Pitt St. Skatepark is hosting another Home Ed Skate & Social on Friday 26 June, a morning session specifically for home-educated kids to skate, scooter and hang out together. It's one of those things that works as much for the adults as it does for the children: while the kids are on the park, parents can catch up over coffee or get a bit of work done with the Wi-Fi. It's a chance to meet other home-ed families in Portsmouth and get the kids active at the same time.

The session runs from 11:00 to 12:45, so it's a late-morning slot that fits into a home-education day without taking up the whole afternoon. It's open to anyone on wheels—skates, scooters and inline skates are all welcome—and the whole thing is described as a relaxed morning rather than a structured class, so it's more about having a go and hanging out than hitting specific targets. It's a term-time only session, which is why you'll find it running through the school year rather than the summer holidays.
If you're new to the home-ed scene in the city, this is a straightforward way to find other families doing the same thing. The social side is just as much a part of it as the skating, with the coffee and Wi-Fi there to keep the parents occupied while the kids do their own thing on the park. It's a low-pressure environment, and because it's geared towards home-educated kids, you'll be around people in a similar boat.
It's a paid session: ÂŁ5 for under 16s and ÂŁ10 for over 16s. You'll find Pitt St. Skatepark at 315 Commercial Road, PO1 4AY, and the session runs from 11:00 to 12:45 on Friday 26 June.
