Heritage Open Days - Storming the Teacup

Downtown Pompey are bringing Storming the Teacup to The Greenhouse, Victoria Park on Thursday 17 September, as a pop-up exhibition and a creative workshop. It's part of Heritage Open Days 2026, the national programme that opens up historic sites and cultural venues to the public, so it's one of many things happening across the city that day.

What you'll see is three years of work from Downtown Pompey's Storming the Teacup project. It's a bit of a collection, pulling together a few different threads: the theatre show Sticky Floors and Palm Trees, the exhibition Whispers From the Dancefloor, community workshops, and oral histories. There's also a collaboration with Drag Files titled What is Heritage, and how do we understand our histories?.

So the exhibition isn't just one thing — it's a look at where the project has been over the last few years, with the workshop running alongside it. If you've followed any of those earlier pieces, this is where they all land in one place. If you're coming in fresh, it's a good way to see the whole thing at once.
