Guys and Dolls in Concert

Guys and Dolls in Concert comes to the Kings Theatre on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 February 2027, with Jack Edwards taking on two roles: he'll be playing Nicely-Nicely Johnson and directing the production.

If you're not familiar with the show, Guys and Dolls is a vibrant, hilarious, and heart-warming musical set in 1950s New York. It's a world of gamblers, showgirls, and missionaries who get tangled up in bets, romances, and comic misunderstandings, all carried by timeless favourites like 'Luck Be a Lady' and 'Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat'.

For Edwards, this isn't a new part. He first played Nicely-Nicely Johnson in the Donmar Warehouse's 2007 West End production, alongside Don Johnson and Claire Sweeney. Later, he led the touring company of the Chichester Festival Theatre staging when it transferred to the West End and toured the UK and Ireland in 2016, acting opposite Rebel Wilson, Richard Kind, and Samantha Spiro. Between those two runs, nearly two decades have passed, and he's returning to the role this time with the added job of directing the whole thing.

A Kings Theatre spokesperson described the show as a unique opportunity to experience the classic musical through the eyes of an artist who has been part of its professional legacy for almost twenty years. It's a concert version, so the focus is on the music and the performances rather than a full set and costumes. The two dates are Friday 5 and Saturday 6 February 2027 at the Kings Theatre on Albert Road in Southsea, Portsmouth.
