Gin and Rum Festival

The Gin and Rum Festival comes to Portsmouth Cathedral on Saturday 15 August, now in its eighth year. It's the UK's largest touring gin and rum festival, and it's set up for two different crowds: the seasoned connoisseurs and anyone just looking for a night out with friends. The organisers describe it as an electric, fun atmosphere full of good vibes.

Inside, there are more than 120 premium gins and rums to sample, brought in from across the UK and around the world. They're laid out across themed Gin & Rum bars, with a cocktail bar on hand to shake up spirit-based mixes. A resident DJ and live entertainment keep things going throughout the session, so it's as much about the music as the drinks. Over the weekend, there are also talks and exclusive samples from hand-picked, award-winning guest distillers, and admission to all the masterclasses is free.

Each ticket comes with a fair bit of kit to carry you through: a branded G&R Festival keepsake cup, a satchel, a reusable stainless-steel straw, and an exclusive G&R guide. There's also a free drink to claim on your way out, once your session is over.

It runs in two sessions on the day: Session 1 from 12:30 to 17:00, and Session 2 from 18:00 to 22:00, so you can pick the one that fits your Saturday. Entry is strictly for over-18s, and you'll need to bring ID to get in. The venue is wheelchair accessible. The festival is at Portsmouth Cathedral, High St, Old Portsmouth, Portsmouth PO1 2HA.
