Freebird – A Tribute to Eva Cassidy

Freebird, a tribute to singer-songwriter Eva Cassidy, comes to The Gaiety on Friday 14 August, from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. It's a seated show, so you'll be sitting through the whole thing rather than standing at the back.

Rather than just a set of covers, the evening weaves live performance with storytelling, with narrative moments placed between the songs. It works its way through some of Cassidy's best-known recordings: Fields of Gold, Songbird, Over the Rainbow, Autumn Leaves, Wade in the Water and Time After Time. The storytelling fills the gaps, so the songs don't just run one into another.

Zoe Lindsay takes the lead, backed by a live band. The musicians behind her have toured internationally, played major festivals, staged West End productions and performed alongside world-renowned artists. The production has also been recognised by Eva's brother, Dan Cassidy, who said Lindsay "effortlessly recaptures the soul, spirit and beauty" he remembered in her music.

Tickets are £16 for Early Bird and £20 for Standard Admission, with booths for four, six or eight people at £25 per person. The show runs from 7.30pm to 10.30pm at The Gaiety, on South Parade Pier in Southsea.
