Continents

Continents play Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday 7 August, in The Lens Studio. The Welsh metalcore band are touring their Lifeline era, with Embers and Skulker supporting them on the bill. It starts at 20:00.

If you're not familiar, Continents are a Welsh metalcore outfit that build their sound around heavy riffs and a fair bit of emotional weight. They've been around for a while, but they took a break in 2018 for health reasons and didn't return to the stage until 2022. The material they're playing now falls under the Lifeline era, and it's a bit more focused on the personal side of things — mental health, trauma, and emotional survival. Recent releases like 'Smile' and 'Corrupted' give you a good idea of where they're at right now.

Embers are on the bill too, a UK metal band that describes their sound as a mix of modern heaviness, cinematic atmosphere, and emotional songwriting. Skulker round out the line-up, so there's a full evening of metalcore and metal on the one ticket.

On the practical side, tickets are £14.85, which includes a 13% booking fee. The night is part of The Lens Studio Student Pass, so if you've got one, it's covered. A few things to keep in mind before you head down: cameras and tablets aren't allowed inside, and you can't bring in your own food or drink unless it's for medical reasons. If you're driving, there's discounted parking available to book online or at the box office. And if you're bringing anyone younger, under-14s have to be accompanied by an adult over 18.
