Comedy at the Fort

Comedy at the Fort returns to The Portsmouth Distillery on Friday 30 October, part of the monthly stand-up night the distillery runs from its home at Fort Cumberland in Southsea. It's a night that puts comedy and cocktails in the same room, with the distillery's own spirits and drinks from other local providers on hand, and a fresh food van serving bites before the show starts.

Hosting the evening is local favourite James Alderson, known to many as one of the voices behind the Bring Back The 80s podcast. He'll be introducing the two acts on the bill, so you'll have a familiar face to guide the night.

One of those acts is Geoff Norcott, one of the UK's most prominent stand-up comedians and commentators. His work is built on sharp wit and political satire, and he's a regular on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Have I Got News For You, Would I Lie To You? and Question Time. There's another side to his career too: he won an operational medal for five tours performing to British troops in Afghanistan, so he's as comfortable on a stage in a war zone as he is on a TV studio set.

Sharing the bill is Michael Fabbri, an award-winning stand-up and writer who was nominated for best club comic at the Chortle Awards in 2012. Between the two of them, you've got a high-profile political satirist and a seasoned club comic, both with plenty of experience under their belts.

Doors open at 18:00, with the comedy starting at 20:00, so there's a good window to get a drink and some food in before the first act takes the stage. Tickets are £20.
