The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race comes home to Gunwharf Quays on Friday 24 July, when the 2025-26 edition finally reaches its end. It's the Grand Finale of a race that covers roughly 40,000 nautical miles, and the whole fleet gathers here in the harbour to mark the finish.
It's not just about watching the boats come in, either. The arrival is built around a few days of activity, with the main action running from the 24th through to the 26th. There are public fanzones set up along the waterfront, live entertainment on the quay, and the chance to go on board and meet the crews who've just come off the water. The whole thing culminates in a final parade of sail, with the fleet sailing together through the harbour.
It's a family-friendly affair, so it works as well for a casual stroll with the kids as it does for anyone who follows sailing. You don't need to know your way around a deck to enjoy it — the sight of the fleet gathered in the harbour does most of the work. If you're into sailing, though, it's a rare chance to see these yachts up close and hear from the crews about what those 40,000 miles were actually like.
