Alison Moyet performs material from Yazoo and her solo electronica albums 'the minutes' and 'Other' at Portsmouth Guildhall.
Alison Moyet plays Portsmouth Guildhall on Tuesday 13 October, one date in a 34-night tour across Europe, the UK and Ireland. The show is called Songs of Yazoo, the minutes & Other, and it draws exclusively on the Yazoo catalogue and select tracks from her solo electronica albums the minutes (2013) and Other (2017), both produced by and largely co-written with Guy Sigsworth.
Much of the Yazoo material has rarely been performed outside their two brief tours — the 1982 breakthrough and the 2008 Reconnected reunion — so this is a rare chance to hear those songs live. The set leans on staples like 'Only You', 'Love Resurrection' and 'Don't Go'.
Moyet fronted the new-wave duo Yazoo, known as Yazoo in the US, and has built a solo career spanning more than four decades of soaring vocals, pop hooks and astute lyricism. Between the two she's scored three UK number one albums and a further five Top 10 records, including nine Top 10 singles, and has won three BRIT Awards, the Icon Award at the Silver Clef Awards, a BASCA Gold Badge from The Ivors Academy and a Grammy nomination.
